Author Kathleen Reed will present a book talk at Butler Library Touring 1938 Europe Unawares A True Story Thurs., Feb. 2 @ 6:30 p.m. This fascinating historical memoir READS like a NOVEL, with romance, challenges, and fun, except it was extracted from the pages of Helen McPhail's trip diaries when she toured nine European countries by rail in 1938. The visit fell between the time of Hitler's annexation of Austria, and the tense weeks when he demanded part of Czechoslovakia or he would attack it. |
