Computer Classes

Computer help is given as necessary. We have a volunteer that helps patrons once a month. Please check the calendar.


Computer Basics

(limit 4 participants)

Skill Level – Little or no computer experience

Learn basic computer terminology and computer components.

  • Turning on and off the computer
  • How to use a keyboard and mouse.
  • How to save files
  • Plus other basic computer use tips

Computer Comfort

(limit 4 participants)

Skill level – Little or no computer experience.

This is a refresher course for those that do not regularly use a computer. It is designed to go at your own pace.

You will be given exercises with keyboard or mouse to help you become more comfortable with the devices.


Internet Basics

(limit 4 participants)

Skill level – comfortable using keyboard and mouse or have taken computer basics.

Learn how to:

  • Get on the internet
  • Navigate the internet
  • Navigate the Butler Library Website and Internet Resources
  • Adding and retrieving items from favorites

Email Basics

(limit 4 participants)

Skill level – comfortable using keyboard and mouse or have taken computer basics.

NOTE: If you already have an email account, please bring the web address to access the account along with your Username and Password. If you do not have an email account, we can set you up with one. Please have a username in mind for the account.

Learn how to:

  • Login to your email account.
  • Compose and email.
  • Maintain your email account.
  • Add an attachment to email.
  • Print an email.

Microsoft Word Basics

(limit 4 participants)

Skill level – comfortable using keyboard and mouse or have taken computer basics.

NOTE: If you wish to save your document please bring your own flash drive to save the document or have your email username or password along so you can email the document to yourself.

Learn how to:

  • Create a basic document such as a letter or resume.
  • How to save and retrieve a document.
  • Navigate the menu bar
  • How to print.
