Get in on the Summer Reading fun!
 
Register at the front desk to get started on your summer reading adventure! Weekly challenge checklist will be available at the library or to download and print at home. Complete 3 Reading Challenges and 3 Activity Challenges. Each completed checklist will serve as your prize raffle ticket that you can turn in at the library. 
 
Join us for a Summer Reading Celebration! Thursday, July 31st 12:00-2:00 pm. Stop by to enjoy some tasty treats courtesy of the Friends of the Butler Library and celebrate your Summer Reading accomplishments. Be sure to turn in all your completed challenge cards by July 31st to enter to win a Summer Reading prize basket.

Week 7

7 Kids. Reading  challenge
Pick 3: - Read a book with lots of colors on the cover
- Read a book featuring rainbows
- Read in a hammock or swing
- Read a book in the morning
- Share what you are reading with a sibling or friend
- Read at a bonfire. Activity  challenge
Pick 3: - Visit a local park
- Play a card game
- Enjoy a no technology day
- Eat something new
- Blow bubbles outside
- Help a family member or friend with a chore
- Draw a picture of your favorite book or character

Week 6

Week 6 Kids. Reading  challenge
Pick 3: - Start a book series
- Read a book with a purple cover
- Read to a pet
- Read at the library
- Tell a librarian what you read. Activity  challenge
Pick 3: - Make or fill a birdfeeder
- Attend the Aquatic Animal library event
- Pick raspberries at the library
- Take a hike
- Have a nerf or water gun fight

Week 5

Week 5 Kids. Reading  challenge
Pick 3: - Read a book about aquatic animals
- Read on a beach towel
- Read a book in the afternoon
- Read a fantasy book
- Read a book with a blue cover. Activity  challenge
Pick 3: - Go swimming or explore the beach
- Dance outside
- Watch clouds pass by with a friend
- Attend our paint event (ages 12-17) or paint a picture at home
- Watch a movie that features dancing

Week 4

Week 4 Kids. Reading  challenge
Pick 3: - Read a book about Wisconsin
- Read at a picnic
- Read a book with a green cover
- Read a book about plants, gardens or woodlands
- Read a friendship book. Activity  challenge
Pick 3: - Learn about bugs
- Check out a Craft Bag
- Eat ice cream 
- Sidewalk chalk a message to brighten someone’s day
- Attend the magic show event at the library

Week 3

Reading challenge Pick 3: - Read a yellow book - Read in a fort - Read a book with photographs - Read a graphic novel or picture book - Read with a friend, Activity challenge Pick 3: - Attend a parade or fireworks event - Take a picture by the Caboose - Look through photographs & share stories about the image - Go visit an area with wall murals and take a walking tour - Send a postcard to someone

Week 2

Reading  challenge
Pick 3: - Read a book with an orange cover
- Read while listening to music
- Listen to an audio book
- Read a book about music
- Read a poem
Activity  challenge
Pick 3: - Listen to someone’s favorite song
- Attend open build Lego Club
- Donate to our food bank
- Play an instrument or make sounds with something
- Watch or listen to a musical movie

Week 1

Reading  challenge
Pick 3: - Read a science themed book.
- Read in your PJs
- Read to a Pet
- Read a book with a red cover.
- Read a book with a color  in the title
Activity  challenge
Pick 3: - Sign up for Summer Reading
- Attend Science Heroes
- Eat something red.
- Give someone a High 5
- Explore something new outside.

Summer Reading 2025 Instructions:

  • Make sure you are registered at the front desk
  • Come in each Monday for a new weekly challenge form
  • Bring finished forms back to the library and use them as your entry into the raffle
  • Weekly forms can be picked up anytime on or after their assigned week
  • Completed forms can be brought in anytime before July 31
  • Raffle winners will be contacted by phone in early August & prizes can be picked up at National Night Out on Aug 5th.
