Butler Public Library Endowment

Supporting Our Library’s Future

Our Butler Public Library endowment funds helps secure our future!

"Philanthropy, charity, giving voluntarily and freely - call it whatever you like but it is truly a jewel of an American tradition." - John F. KennedyDonations to this fund make a lasting difference. Gifts to the fund, founded in 2025, produce revenue which supports our Library into the future: to sustain our mission, to strengthen our community, to foster learning, and to inspire creativity.

Our fund is managed by the Waukesha County Community Foundation (WCCF), which specializes in providing investment and management services, ensuring a future for organizations like ours.

We hope you will consider a gift to the fund as a way to preserve our Library’s legacy. If you are interested in memorializing a loved one, ask about our Memorial Bricks.

With sincere thanks,

The Butler Public Library Board: Charlene Benjamin, Ashley Jameson, Robert Kraus, Laura Meyer, Kim Mussfeldt, Tom Sardina

Benefits of a Endowment Fund:

  • Community Support and Confidence – When people give to a foundation they know that their gifts will be used as intended.
  • Sponsorships and Partnerships – Finding the right partner for your project is an art, and many companies liketobeassociatedwith the types of programs created by libraries.
  • Planned Giving Opportunities – Planned giving is a way for donors to make gifts to an organization and receive financial and tax benefits. There are many options including Charitable Gift Annuities, Deferred Gift Annuities, Pooled Income Funds, Charitable Remainder Trusts, Charitable Lead Trusts, and the most common, Bequests. Retirement assets (including IRAs, annuities, pension plans, etc.) make a wonderful gift, because they pass tax-free to your library foundation.
  • Grant Eligibility -Foundations have the advantage of being eligible for grants for which public libraries may not qualify. Most grantors require that recipients be qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations. Also, many major grantors have a policy against funding tax-supported institutions but will provide grants to foundations.
  • Cash, Stocks, RealEstate, andLifeInsurance – Foundations can accept gifts for restricted and unrestricted purposes, providing donors a tax exemption (to extent qualified by law).
  • Investment Opportunities – Foundations have the flexibility to invest their funds to maximize the benefit for the fund owner. Investment options available to public agencies are usually much more restrictive.
